Protect the places we call home from the impact of feral deer
From the Walls of Jerusalem where pencil pines have stood for centuries, to the misty tree ferns of the Otways or the ancient eucalypts of the Blue Mountains – Australia’s landscapes are found nowhere else on Earth.
They have survived for millions of years – evolving in isolation, without hard hooves to churn fragile soils or heavy herds to strip the landscape bare.
Right now, feral deer are eating them alive.
Feral deer are tearing through bushland, stripping native plants, trampling fragile soils and degrading waterways. Left unchecked, their populations can double within just a few years.
But right now, we have a rare window to act. That’s why I am asking you for a tax-deductible gift today to help us act before it is too late.
Victoria is heading into an election. Tasmania is setting its budget priorities. Queensland has an opportunity to strengthen its action plan, and New South Wales to recognise feral deer as a major threat. South Australia must secure the funding needed to maintain its momentum, while Western Australia still has a chance to eradicate deer before the west faces the same crisis as the east.
At the same time, the National Feral Deer Action Plan is approaching a funding cliff in this federal budget, along with the coordinator role that underpins it.
These are the moments when decisions are made. When pressure can still shape the outcome. When politicians are listening.
Your donation will support on-ground campaigners working with farmers, councils and conservation groups to build the case for change, while driving national pressure.
Please give today to help protect Australia’s natural environment. Your donation is tax-deductible. The window is closing – but together, we can still protect the ancient places deer are destroying.
Make a donation to help us protect the ancient places deer are destroying today.

Your generous tax-deductible gift helps fund our fight to protect Australia’s native species.
We need to act now.
Feral deer don’t just damage landscapes, they unravel entire ecosystems.
And the longer we wait, the harder this becomes to fix. Deer populations can double within just a few years. Once they are widespread, control becomes more complex, more costly, and far less effective.
Right now, we still have a chance to get ahead of this.
We know what works. We have already seen ecosystems recover when deer are removed. But that only happens when action is taken early, before the damage becomes entrenched and the cost spirals.
This is a critical window. The right investment, policy change and public pressure can still turn the tide.
If we miss it, we are not just accepting more damage. We are locking in a far bigger, more expensive problem for the future.
With your support, we win!
A new chapter for Kosciuszko National Park
In 2025, our advocacy led the New South Wales Parliament to finally repeal the law that locked in protection for feral horses in Kosciuszko National Park after more than a decade of campaigning.
Safe at last: Walls of Jerusalem National Park
A national plan to protect our wild places
In 2023, we secured the National Deer Action Plan. This includes a cross-jurisdictional containment strategy to stop the westward spread of deer from eastern Australia.
