Act to protect
our vulnerable wildlife
Australia has the worst mammalian extinction record in the world and cats have contributed to two thirds of these species’ demise.
Please act today to help prevent further deaths.
The stats are jaw-dropping. Each year in Australia, new peer-reviewed evidence has revealed cats kill an estimated:
- More than 1 billion mammals, like the vulnerable greater bilby
- More than 399 million birds, like the extremely rare night parrot
- More than 609 million reptiles, like the vulnerable great desert skink
Overall we lose over 2 billion animals to cats alone each year — a devastating toll.
Cats have already contributed to over 20 native mammal extinctions already. And they still threaten the survival of at least another 124 native Australian animals on the brink.
Australia is in an extinction crisis. This is an emergency. There is political support for action on cats, but given the scale of the threat to our precious wildlife, much more needs to be done.
Add your voice now and help us take 50,000 signatures to Federal Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek.
Together we can loudly call for increased funding and urgent action to stop invasive species-led destruction, deaths and extinctions in Australia.
