Thank you for taking a stand for nature
Your voice has just added strength to a growing national movement demanding urgent action on invasive species.
By sending your message, you’ve helped shine a light on a crisis that has been overlooked for far too long – and shown our nation’s leaders that people across Australia expect real action on invasive species to protect the places and wildlife we love.
Invasive species aren’t just another policy debate. They’re reshaping landscapes, threatening communities, and putting fragile ecosystems at risk. When governments fail to act, the impacts grow deeper, wider and harder to reverse.
Your action today helps push this issue onto the national agenda, where it urgently belongs.
But this is only the beginning.
Together, we are building unstoppable pressure for governments to:
• Acknowledge the scale of the problem and the threat it poses
• Strengthen national laws and programs that protect nature and communities
• Secure the long-term funding and leadership needed to turn things around
Every person who takes action brings us one step closer to safeguarding Australia’s wildlife, culture and natural heritage for the next generation.
Thank you for standing up, adding your voice, and helping drive the momentum needed for real change.
Inspired to help make a bigger impact for native wildlife?
Right now, our world heritage sites and national parks are burning from within.
Litchfield National Park, a place of thundering waterfalls, ancient cliffs and rare monsoon rainforest – is under siege from gamba grass, a towering weed that grows four metres high and burns eight times hotter than normal fires.
It’s already taken over a fifth of the park – an area larger than Greater Sydney.
After each blaze, feral cats hunt survivors like the endangered northern quoll, driving them closer to extinction. Within a decade, Litchfield could be an endless field of grass – lifeless and silent.
And it’s not just Litchfield. Across the heart of Australia, buffel grass fuelling fires that burn hotter, faster and deadlier than ever before.
A gift from you will help us fight back – and win.
Right now, we have a small window to secure critical funding in the upcoming federal budget to defend our national parks and world heritage areas from invasive species.
Here’s what we’re demanding:
- Renew and expand the Saving Native Species program to $300 million.
- Create a $250m National Islands Fund to protect Australia’s island sanctuaries, where the impacts of invasive species are most significant.
- Establish a $400m Protected Areas Invasives Action Fund to defend national parks and reserves from feral animals, weeds, and pests.
To make this happen, your gift today will fund our lobbying work to ensure the mega threat of invasive species gets prioritised in the upcoming federal budget funding.
We know that with your support – change happens. In 2024, we secured vital federal funding to boost preparation efforts against the looming bird flu (H5N1) catastrophe to save Australia’s wildlife. And in 2024, we won a total of $593 million (including $268 million in federal funds) for the eradication of fire ants.
Please give by 20 December and help us defend Australia’s precious protected places before it’s too late.
