David brings diverse interests, networks and professional backgrounds to the invasive species challenge.
David trained as an engineer and geologist. After ten years as a professional engineer working in Australia and overseas David co-founded Barra in Australia, a financial fund software business.
In 1989 he joined Macquarie Group in the equities section specialising in equities research and strategy. The business expanded to Asia, Europe and the USA, David was an executive director in charge of the research business.
In 2006, David joined Bush Heritage Australia as a director, retiring from the role in 2015. In 2011, David co-founded Social Enterprise Finance Australia Ltd. (SEFA), where he is still a director. David is also a director of SEFA Partnerships, a charity.
David maintains a keen interest in quantitative finance as well as the environment and agriculture in particular sheep and cattle.
