There is no overnight fix to the invasive species mega-threat.
We will lose millions of vulnerable native animals to the new deadly strain of bird flu. In South America, 30,000 sea lions have died from this disease, we only have 12,000 remaining in Australia.
Lethal pathogens like chytrid fungus and myrtle rust are pushing species such as the southern corroboree frog and native guava tree toward extinction.
Fire ants will harm native animals like koalas, echidnas, and loggerhead turtles if we let them spiral out of control.
Feral cats are responsible for 27 extinctions – they kill one billion animals each year, including critically endangered animals like the numbat and mountain pygmy possum.
To ensure we can plan into the future and continue running strong campaigns to protect our wildlife, we are asking you to consider a regular donation of $50 per month – or two coffees a week.
Thanks to your support already, we’ve been able to run strategic campaigns including highlighting the alarming threat of the deadly H5N1 strain on our native animals – the government is taking steps in the right direction but we need more action urgently.
We need your help to make sure the government keeps the invasive species crisis high on the agenda and protects our wildlife.
Donations $2 and over are tax-deductible for Australian taxpayers. The Invasive Species Council is an Australian registered charity.
