Paul joins the ISC in a new role as Community Organiser.
He works from Kurilpa (West End Brisbane) on Jagera land. Paul is attached to the conservation team and supports their work on fire ants and other invasive species in Queensland and Northern New South Wales.
Although formally trained in economics, government and law, Paul has mostly engaged in community advocacy. He uses skills gained in advocacy and organising in disability, tenancy and workplace relations to help the Council connect with the community with its important work. For the past 10 years he has been a notable advocate and litigant for farmers and environmentalists fighting to protect the Darling Downs from inappropriate coal and gas mining.
Paul works to assist the ISC by building community support for effective programmes and funding to control and eradicate invasive species. A big part of his job is to communicate with those who understand the extent of the problem, and those who haven’t understood it.
