A special ‘biosecurity zone’ for Lord Howe Island would be highly beneficial to prevent invasion from new weeds and pests. Rats and mice are responsible for the extinction of five bird species on the island, but there is still hope for remaining birds like the endemic Lord Howe Island White-eye.
